Anslow Bryant Construction partners with U.S. Department of Labor's OSHA and Houston Chapter of Associated General Contractors to promote construction safety

HOUSTON -- Better health and safety for construction employees is the goal of a new partnership uniting the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Anslow Bryant Construction Ltd. and the Houston Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

"The Labor Department is committed to protecting the well-being of America's construction employees," said Dean McDaniel, OSHA's regional administrator in Dallas. "This partnership will help to ensure that goal is accomplished."

Anslow Bryant is the latest member to join the OSHA/AGC Exemplary Partnership, begun in 1999, which has grown to 13 Houston-based general contractors and three subcontractors. OSHA and AGC conduct safety training with partnership members to improve hazard recognition and take corrective action when necessary.

OSHA's Strategic Partnership Program is part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of employees through cooperative relationships with trade associations, labor organizations, employers and employees. More than 1.2 million employees and more than 33,000 employers across the United States have participated with OSHA in more than 475 strategic partnerships since the program began in 1998.

Employers and employees with questions about this and other OSHA partnerships may call the agency's Houston North area office at (281) 591-2438, Houston South area office at (281) 286-0583 or visit OSHA's Web site at www.osha.gov (click on "Cooperative Programs").

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA's role is to assure the safety and health of America's working men and women by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual process improvement in workplace safety and health.
