ACCSH PUBLIC MEETING SCHEDULED FOR DEC. 5-6 IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

WASHINGTON -- The Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH) will hold an open meeting in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 5-6, 2002.

ACCSH advises the assistant secretary on standards, polices and practices related to the protection of construction workers from 15-member worksite hazards.

The committee will meet from 8:00 - 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 and 8:30 -12:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 in rooms N-3437 A, B, C and D of the Department of Labor Building, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C., 20210.

Agenda items include: remarks by OSHA Administrator John Henshaw; Partnerships, Alliances, Agreements; Subpart V-power transmission and distribution; negotiated rulemaking-Subpart N-cranes and derricks; crane workgroup report; Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); hearing conservation; silica exposure; steel erection; highway work zone safety, and Assigned Protection Factors (APFs).

The ACCSH Crane workgroup will meet Dec. 3, 2002 from noon to 5:00 p.m. and Dec. 4 from 8:30-4:30 p.m., in the Department of Labor Building, in conference suite N-3437, Seminar rooms A & B.

Written data, views or comments for consideration by the committee may be submitted to U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA, Room N-3647, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C., 20210. Twenty copies are needed. Those submissions received prior to the meeting will be included in the record of the meeting.

Anyone wishing to make an oral presentation to the committee on any of the agenda items should notify OSHA at the above address. The request should specify the amount of time desired, the capacity in which the person will appear and a brief outline of the presentation. ACCSH may grant requests to speak, as time permits, at the discretion of the ACCSH chairperson.
