ROME TO BE SITE OF TRAINING ON NEW OSHA RECORDKEEPING RULES

ROME, Ga. -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration will provide training on the revised occupational injury and illness record keeping rule on November 14 in Rome, Ga.

Set to run from 9:00 a.m. until 12 Noon, the free training session will be held at Coosa Valley Technical College Auditorium, One Maurice Culberson Dr. in Rome.

When OSHA's new rule for recording injuries and illnesses takes effect on Jan. 1, 2002, it will affect over a million establishments in the U.S. The revision to OSHA's rule aims to improve the quality and consistency of injury and illness data while simplifying the system for the employer. The new rule is also designed to improve employee involvement and to protect the privacy of the injured or ill worker.

At the end of the training, participants will know:

  • the record keeping, posting and reporting requirements of OSHA's revised rule;
  • the employers and employees covered under the revised record keeping requirements, and
  • how to complete OSHA illness and injury forms -- 300, 300A and 301 -- accurately.

For additional information and to reserve a space at the training session, please call Jim Powell, Coosa Valley Technical College, at 706-624-1138.
