NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO BE SITE OF SATELLITE TRAINING ON NEW OSHA RECORDKEEPING RULES

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration will provide training on the revised occupational injury and illness record keeping rule on Wednesday, December 12 at Northeast Mississippi Community College's Holiday Hall in Booneville, Miss. The satellite training session will make available national experts to answer questions about OSHA's new rule.

Set to run from 12:00 Noon until 2:30 p.m. central time, the free training session is sponsored by the Northeast Mississippi Environmental Safety Health Association and Northeast Mississippi Community College.

When OSHA's new rule for recording injuries and illnesses takes effect on Jan. 1, 2002, it will affect over a million establishments in the U.S. The revision to OSHA's rule aims to improve the quality and consistency of injury and illness data while simplifying the system for the employer. The new rule is also designed to improve employee involvement and to protect the privacy of the injured or ill worker.

At the end of the training, participants will know:

  • the record keeping, posting and reporting requirements of OSHA's revised rule;
  • which employers and employees are covered under the revised record keeping requirements, and
  • how to complete OSHA illness and injury forms -- 300, 300A and 301.

For additional information and to reserve a space at the training session, please call Billy Bolden or Angie Mason, Northeast Mississippi Community College, at 662-720-7328.
