OSHA TO HOLD FREE TRAINING ON AMPUTATION HAZARDS
FOR CONNECTICUT EMPLOYERS IN CHESHIRE ON MAY 22

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- To help Connecticut employers identify, reduce and eliminate amputation hazards in their workplaces, the Bridgeport Area Office of U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration will conduct a free training session in Cheshire on Thurs., May 22, 2002.

The session, which will be held from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at Condor Pacific Industries, Inc., 250 Knotter Drive, will focus on hazards associated with saws, shears, slicers, slitters and mechanical presses of all types, equipment which account for most amputations. Bureau of Labor Statistics data show that an average of 10,000 on-the-job amputations occur annually in the United States, noted Robert Kowalski, OSHA's Bridgeport Area Director.
