Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Charlotte Beers to Deliver Remarks At National Press ClubUnder Secretary Charlotte Beers will speak at the National Press Club, (529 14th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.,) on Wednesday, December 18, 2002, at 1:30 p.m.
Under Secretary Beers will review how the practice of public diplomacy has evolved and adapted to meet the challenges of the post-9/11 environment, support the war on terrorism, and intensify America’s dialogue with the world. Wider audiences, targeted messages, credible messengers, new media, total communications packages, improved research and evaluation – all of these will be examined in the light of recent and forthcoming public diplomacy initiatives, particularly vis-à-vis Arab and Muslim audiences.
