Kirkwood Community College of Cedar Rapids, Iowa Hosts United States Department of State Foreign Policy Town Meeting

On Thursday, December 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., Kirkwood Community College of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will host a Foreign Policy Town Meeting. The State Department Town Meeting is designed to provide a forum to increase awareness and public understanding of current foreign policy issues, to encourage public engagement in the policy process and to provide an opportunity to exchange views with Department of State officials who formulate and implement policy.

The Town Meeting will cover two issues that are increasingly important in the minds of Americans today. Mr. Christopher Murray, an Iowa native and Director of the Office of Policy Coordination, Public Affairs and Congressional Relations in the Department of State’s Nonproliferation Bureau, will begin the evening of dialogue with his presentation, “Keeping Bad Stuff From Bad People: What Nonproliferation Is All About.”

Mr. Robert Downes, Division Chief in the State Department's Office of Multilateral Trade Affairs, will lead the second part of the Town Meeting with a presentation on the importance and opportunities in International Trade.

Registration for the Foreign Policy Town Meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Kirkwood Community College’s Cedar Hall-Room 234.
