Notice to the Press Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC August 21, 2008
Temporary Relocation of Press BriefingsThe Department of State will upgrade and renovate the lighting and stage set in the Press Briefing Room, room 2209. Work is set to begin August 25 and continue through September 5.
During that period all on-camera daily and special press briefings will be held in the Loy Henderson Conference Room, on the first floor directly below the press briefing room. Media organizations will have the same access to video cabling and a mult box as they do in the press briefing room, and broadcast-quality lighting will be provided by the Office of Broadcast Services.
Because the Loy Henderson Conference Room is outside the unescorted press access area, reporters, photographers and camera crew members without a State Department building pass who wish to participate in press briefings must be escorted to and from the Conference Room. The Daily Public Schedule (recorded at (202) 647-2497) will include press pickup times for each briefing. Unless otherwise specified, pickup will be from the 23rd Street Lobby. Once in the Loy Henderson Conference Room, members of the media who require escort must remain until the briefing concludes and they are escorted back to the building entrance.
