Palestinians: Palestinian Anti-terrorism Act

Question: Any reaction to House passage of Palestinian anti-terrorism legislation?

Answer: We understand the House passed legislation, known as the Palestinian Anti-terrorism Act, on Thursday. While the Administration customarily prefers maximum legislative flexibility in conducting foreign policy, we nonetheless note that the bill tracks closely with the Administration's policy of no-contact with the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority government, and our plans on delivering humanitarian aid directly to the Palestinian people -- not through the Palestinian Authority government. However, as the Executive Branch has not yet formally received the legislation, we will refrain from further comment at this time.
