U.S. Department of Labor's OSHA forms partnership to protect employees building New York Jets' new facility

PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has joined Hunter Roberts Construction Group, Florham Park Development LLC, the Morris County Building and Construction Trades Council, and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development On-site Consultation Service in an effort to protect employees constructing the New York Jets' new 27-acre training facility in Florham Park, N.J. Phil Peist, OSHA area director in Parsippany, attended a recent signing ceremony at the site that officially began the partnership.

The new facility, due to be completed in September 2008, will house a two-story campus building containing both training facilities for the players and the corporate headquarters for the entire New York Jets organization.

The key goal of the partnership is to eliminate serious worksite hazards and achieve a high level of employee safety and health at the construction site by developing a contractor and government relationship that encourages all contractors involved in the project to improve safety and health performance, strive for the elimination of serious accidents in the construction industry, and recognize exemplary safety and health programs.

"With so many contractors involved in the project, this partnership will help facilitate a coordinated effort to ensure that employees stay safe and healthy on the construction site," says Peist.

"The New York Jets are proud to partner with our construction manager, the trades, and OSHA to ensure the safety of all those working on the new Jets corporate headquarters and training facility in Florham Park," said New York Jets President Jay Cross.

OSHA's Parsippany office will participate in the partnership. For more information, call 973-263-1003.
