"Working together, this alliance can develop effective training courses, present workshops, and provide more workers with information and procedures to prevent construction-related accidents," said Cindy Coe Laseter, OSHA's Atlanta regional administrator. A signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 20, at the main campus auditorium in Boca Raton. Signing the alliance document will be Luis R. Santiago, director of OSHA's Fort Lauderdale area office; Gene Ouellette, executive director of the Florida Institute for Safety and Construction; and B. Ray Holland, dean of FAU Open University and Continuing Education.
The Florida Institute of Safety and Construction will provide safety training for employers and employees in the state's construction industry, with the goal of reducing workplace injuries and deaths. OSHA and the Institute share this common goal. The alliance will foster a "culture of prevention" by providing technical assistance, training and "best practices" to improve safety awareness throughout the construction industry. # # #
