NACOSH PUBLIC MEETING SET FOR JULY 9-10 IN WASHINGTON, DC

WASHINGTON -- The National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) will meet in Washington, D.C., on July 9-10, to discuss OSHA and NIOSH activities.

The meeting will be held in Room N3437 (A-C) of the Department of Labor Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20210. The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 8:30 a.m. on July 9 until approximately 4:30 p.m. The meeting will reconvene on July 10 at 8:30 a.m. and end at Noon.

Agenda items include:


  • Updates on OSHA and NIOSH activities
  • National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory
  • OSHA Evaluation Targeting Program
  • Hispanic and Immigrant Workers
  • Information Dissemination
  • Workgroup Meetings and reports
NACOSH was established under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to advise the secretaries of labor and health and human services on occupational safety and health programs. Members of the 12-person advisory committee are chosen on the basis of their knowledge and experience in occupational safety and health. OSHA Assistant Secretary John Henshaw recently named Peter DeLuca, Administrator of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services, NACOSH Chair.

Written data, views or comments for consideration by the committee may be submitted, preferably with 20 copies, to Vivian Allen at OSHA, Room N3641, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C., 20210. Any submissions received prior to the meeting will be included in the record. Requests to address the committee orally will be considered by the Chair who will determine whether or not time permits.

Notice of the NACOSH meeting is expected to appear in the June 13, 2003 Federal Registrar.
