OSHA Announces Appointment of New MACOSH Members

WASHINGTON -- Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA Edwin G. Foulke, Jr., today announced the appointment of new members to the Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (MACOSH). The announcement will be published in the Aug. 8, 2006, Federal Register.

MACOSH advises the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health on issues and concerns relating to occupational safety and health for workers involved in shipbuilding, shipbreaking, ship repair, and longshoring.

The newly appointed MACOSH members are:

Employer Representatives
Stewart Adams, U. S. Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)
James D. Burgin, Cooper /T. Smith Corporation
Marc MacDonald, Pacific Maritime Association
Captain Teresa Preston, Atlantic Marine Holding Company
Donald V. Raffo, General Dynamics
James R. Thornton, Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipyard (MACOSH Chairman)

Government Representatives
Stephen D. Hudock, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
Charles R. Lemon, Washington State Department of Labor and Industries
Captain Lorne W. Thomas, United States Coast Guard

Employee Representatives
John Castanho, International Longshore & Warehouse Union
