Free OSHA Training in Residential Construction Safety Scheduled For June 15 in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the U.S. Department of Labor, the Arkansas Home Builders Association and the Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board are teaming up to provide a training workshop in Fayetteville on June 15, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Clarion Inn at 1255 S. Shiloh Drive. The training is part of a special emphasis program to reduce work-related fatalities, injuries and illnesses in the residential construction industry.

The workshop will include training on scaffold, ladder and electrical safety as well as fall protection construction concepts for the residential contractor and information on OSHA's multi-employer citation policy.

To sign up for the workshop or to find out more information, contact Jan Skopecek at (479) 751-6688. There is no charge for the workshop, but space is limited.

In fiscal year 2003, training programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration reached more than 300,000 employers and workers. OSHA's role is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health.
