OSHA Small Business Outreach Seminars on Ergonomics & Office Safety To Be Offered In December At Six Upstate New York Locations BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Helping small Upstate New York employers protect their workers against musculoskeletal disorders and common hazards found in an office environment are the goals of seminars being offered by the Buffalo office of the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in conjunction with area organizations and colleges. The same seminar, on the topic of ergonomics and office safety, is being offered at six different locations during December as follows:
"Musculoskeletal disorders continue to be extremely costly to American businesses and take a tremendous toll in terms of pain and suffering to workers," said Art Dube, OSHA's Buffalo area director. "These seminars will focus on innovative steps that can be taken to minimize or eliminate ergonomic stressors in the workplace. They will examine OSHA's four-pronged approach to ergonomics, its compliance assistance tools, and industry-specific ergonomic guidelines. In addition, the seminars will address office safety and the hidden hazards that can often plague the office environment." The session is part of the OSHA Small Business Seminar Series covering a variety of topics that the federal agency will offer this year to assist small Upstate New York employers in complying with workplace safety and health standards. To register for one of the December seminars, or to obtain more information, contact Gordon DeLeys at the Buffalo OSHA Area Office at 716-684-3891 extension 244.
