FY 2009
  • FY 2009 Continuing Resolution—On September 30, 2008, the President signed into law P.L. 110-329, the "Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act, 2009." Division A of this law is the "Continuing Appropriations Resolution, 2009" and provides funds through March 6, 2009—generally at spending rates consistent with FY 2008 levels—for Federal agencies, including ED, whose regular appropriations bills have not been enacted. Division B of this law is the "Disaster Relief and Recovery Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2008," and includes funds and provisions for certain ED programs.

  • FY 2009 Congressional Action—On June 19, 2008, the House Subcommittee on Labor/HHS/Education Appropriations made its recommendations on FY 2009 appropriations for Labor/HHS/Education, and on June 26, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved its version of the FY 2009 Labor/HHS/Education appropriations bill. A table (last updated 09/19/2008) showing the amounts provided by the House Subcommittee and the Senate Committee is available in PDF [164KB] and MS Excel [316KB]. This table, which reflects Mid-Session Review changes in the Pell Grant program, also shows FY 2008 appropriations and the FY 2009 President's Request.

  • FY 2009 President's Education Budget—On February 4, 2008, President Bush unveiled his FY 2009 Budget. Information on the President's FY 2009 Education Budget Request includes summary and background information by program area, detailed budget tables, and State tables.

  • FY 2008 Supplemental Appropriations—On September 30, 2008, the President signed into law P.L. 110-329, the "Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act, 2009." Division B of this law is the "Disaster Relief and Recovery Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2008," and includes funds and provisions for certain ED programs.

  • FY 2008 Congressional Action—On December 26, 2007, the President signed P.L. 110-161 (Dec. 26, 2007; 121 Stat. 1844), Division G of which provides FY 2008 appropriations for Labor, HHS, and Education. A table (last updated 12/19/2007) showing what this bill provides for ED programs is available in PDF [86KB] and EXCEL [793KB]. This table also includes the FY 2007 CR Operating Plan (including supplemental appropriations), the President's FY 2008 Budget Request, and previous House and Senate Action. This table reflects enactment of the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (P.L. 110-84).

  • FY 2008 Congressional Action—On November 1, 2007, House and Senate Conferees approved H.R. 3043, providing FY 2008 appropriations for Labor/HHS/Education. This bill was vetoed by the President on November 13, 2007, and on November 15, 2007, a House vote to override the veto failed.
