Julie Finley
Ambassador, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe
Term of Appointment: 08/02/2005 to present

Julie Finley was nominated by President Bush, confirmed by the U.S. Senate, and on August 2, 2005, was sworn in by Secretary Condoleezza Rice as United States Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). She assumed her duties in Vienna on August 18, 2005.

Julie Finley has been, until June 2005, a Trustee of the National Endowment for Democracy; a Trustee of the American Academy in Berlin; and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Project on Transitional Democracies.

Ambassador Finley was a Founder and Board member of the U.S. Committee on NATO and was Chairman of the Host Committee for the Prague NATO Summit in November 2002. She has been active in Republican politics for many years, serving as DC Republican Party Chairman from 1992 through 2000 and as DC Republican National Committeewoman from 2000 through 2004. She has also served in a number of capacities on the Republican National Committee.

Ambassador Finley was National Finance Co-Chairman for Bush-Cheney '04 for the District of Columbia and Co-Chairman of Team 100 for the Republican National Committee from 1997 through 2004.

Ambassador Finley has been a Trustee of many community organizations including the Library of Congress Trust Fund Board, the Washington Opera Board, and several school boards.

Ambassador Finley has worked for NBC, ABC News, and the Washington Post. She was educated at Vassar College and resides in Washington, DC.
