On October 21, Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne broke ground for construction of the Drop 2 Storage Reservoir Project in California and described how the project will improve management of the lower Colorado River. He was joined by Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Robert Johnson and officials of the project’s partners, including Shari Buck, Chair, Board of Directors of the Southern Nevada Water Authority; Roger Patterson, Assistant General Manager, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; and Susan Bitter Smith, President, Board of Directors, Central Arizona Project.
