ALLIANCE ANNUAL REPORT

Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

I. Alliance Background

Overview
The St. Louis Area Office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA-SLAO) and the
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis (HCCMSL) recognize the value of establishing
a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful workplaces. OSHA-SLAO and the HCCMSL
therefore agree to form an Alliance to use their collective expertise and resources to help foster a
culture of prevention and openness while sharing best practices and technical knowledge. The
alliance will promote safe and healthful working conditions for employees of the Chamber's
membership by providing HCCMSL with information and guidance that will help them protect employees'
health and safety, as well as increase access to safety and health information and training
resources.

Evaluation Period

II. Implementation Team Meetings
During the course of this evaluation period, OSHA Implementation Team member, Larry Davidson, met
several times with Rafael Nun Marin, President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, regarding
opportunities for information exchange.
III. Events and Products
Training and Education
- Events:
- August 2007: Update vision meeting between OSHA's representative and the Chamber's President on
progress status of set goals.
- October 2007: OSHA provided links to the Hispanic Chamber of all Hispanic material on the OSHA
website for inclusion on the Chamber's website.
- December 2007: OSHA provided the Chamber with a contact list of Hispanic contractors extracted
from the IMIS public access web page. The list was for Chamber use in putting together groups for
Hispanic language construction safety training.
Outreach and Communication
- EVENTS
- Distribution of Spanish language flu vaccination information to and through Chamber members.
- Distribution of Hispanic language pandemic flu preparation information to and through Chamber
members.
- Distribution of Hispanic language material specific to roofing construction safety to Hispanic
roofing worker employers.
- Distribution of Hispanic language Lawn and Landscape safety information to employers of such
workers.
Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health
- Events
- Distribution of Spanish language flu vaccination information to and through Chamber members.
- Distribution of Hispanic language pandemic flu preparation information to and through Chamber
members.
- Distribution of Hispanic language material specific to roofing construction safety to Hispanic
roofing worker employers.
- Distribution of Hispanic language Lawn and Landscape safety information to employers of such
workers.
IV. RESULTS
- Provided critical vaccine information to the Hispanic Community
- Provided critical pandemic preparation information to the Hispanic Community.
V. Upcoming Milestones
The St. Louis Area Office will continue to support the training efforts and information needs of the
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater St. Louis as requested.
The St. Louis Area Office will continue to provide informational support in helping the Chamber set
up Spanish language safety training.
