Alliance Overview

The purpose of this alliance is to provide information, guidance and access to training resources that will help protect employee’s safety and health. In particular, reducing and preventing exposure to the most commonly identified general industry, construction and agriculture hazards for the landscape industry.

Implementation Team Members

II. Implementation Team Meetings

June 1, 2006 – Alliance renewal signing.

April 20, 2007 – Phone conversation regarding OSHA 10 hour training.

III. Activities and Products

Alliance Activity.
  • Training and Education
    • Carlos Gallegos presented (in Spanish) on March 15, 2007 at the ILCA -Business Program for Hispanic Companies – His topic was Employer and Employee Rights and Responsibilities Under OSHA.
  • Outreach and Communication
    • OSHA staffed a booth (Carlos Gallegos and Vilma Cantu) August 16, 2006 at the ILCA Summer Field Days.
  • Promoting the National Dialogue on Safety and Health
Alliance Products.
  • Training and Education
    • Discussion occurred about training materials used to conduct OSHA 10 hour course specifically for landscape workers.
  • Outreach and Communication
    • OSHA Area Office staff has written 12 articles for the Illinois Landscape Contractor Magazine.

IV. Results

The alliance activities and products have had a positive impact on the landscape community. The quality of the articles has improved and the topics of interest continue to grow in an effort to provide OSHA guidance where most needed. Providing safety and health training in Spanish has been well received by the target audiences and appears to be successful.
