Overview
OSHA and FHWA formed the Alliance to provide an integrated and positive safety
and health component for the FHWA’s Construction Career Days (CCD) program.

II. Implementation Team Meetings
The primary product of this alliance is OSHA participation in annual
Construction Career Days events in Southern New England. These events are well
established. Therefore, rather than using meetings as a forum to plan,
communication usually takes place and information is exchanged via telephone and
e-mail. The Methuen office held a planning meeting with the Laborers Training
Facility on April 14, 2007
III. Events and Products
Training and Education
OSHA participated in Construction Career Days events in Connecticut,
Massachusetts and Rhode Island during the reporting period. The Connecticut
offices distributed material on careers with OSHA and demonstrated industrial
hygiene sampling equipment at a two day program. At a three day event in
Massachusetts, the Methuen Office presented a “You be the CSHO” interactive
accident investigation game. The Providence Office held an OSHA challenge quiz
at the Rhode Island two day event during which students examined, then answered
questions about a ladder, extension cord and hearing protection. Providence also
distributed “Teen Summer Job Safety” stickers modeled after the national
OSHA2007 teen worker “Build a Safe Work Foundation” campaign. These were used to
remind each teen of his or her right to a safe and healthy workplace. Teen
worker booklets and other safety literature were available for the attendees.
Outreach and Communication
The Construction Career Days events provided a valuable opportunity for OSHA to
network with vocational school instructors.

V. Upcoming Milestones
