OSHA Supports Georgia Utility Contractors Association's
Safety Seminar for Executives
Session Scheduled for November 13

ATLANTA -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) today announced its support of a Georgia Utility Contractors Association (GUCA) executive seminar, which will provide employers throughout the industry with the tools necessary to establish and maintain a strong commitment to safety and health.

From Oct.1, 1999 to Sept. 30, 2003, OSHA investigated 18 fatal excavation and trenching accidents in Georgia. In an effort to reduce these tragic accidents, GUCA developed this safety seminar with an emphasis on improving the safety and health culture of industry employers and employees.

"How to Develop a Safety Culture Within Your Company" is scheduled during a day of safety and health-related training sessions to be held Nov. 13, at the Georgia International Convention Center.

"This seminar demonstrates that industry leaders recognize a problem and are taking meaningful steps to address this serious safety issue," said Andre Richards, OSHA's Atlanta-West area director.
