Meeting of the Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information PolicyThe Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy (ACICIP) will meet on Thursday, October 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the Loy Henderson Auditorium of the Harry S. Truman Building. The ACICIP serves the U.S. Government in a solely advisory capacity regarding current issues and concerns in international communications and information policy. The public and members of the press may attend this meeting as seating capacity allows.
Ambassador David A. Gross, United States Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy, and ACICIP Chairman Richard E. Wiley will host the meeting.
The October 16 meeting will cover:
· preparations by the U.S. Delegation to the ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly, taking place October 21 through 30, 2008
· meetings that have taken place since the April ACICIP, including the OECD Seoul Ministerial, the West Africa ICT access conference in Ghana, and bilateral meetings with China, Colombia, France, the UK, and the European Union
· planned upcoming conference with regulators and telecoms and trade officials from CAFTA countries to be co-hosted by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency and expected to be held in Guatemala City
· other major upcoming meetings, such as ITU Council, the Internet Governance Forum, and the US-India ICT Working Group
All participants will be required to stay for the duration of the meeting. Admittance to the State Department building will be by means of a pre-arranged clearance list.
