Wirtz Labor Library and MSHA Library Successfully Migrate Catalogs
DOL's Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Library in Beckley, West Virginia, has successfully completed the migration of its library records into the existing automated library management system that supports DOL's Wirtz Labor Library. The completion of this project allows library users to search the libraries' records either simultaneously or separately. Bringing the Department's resources together in a seamless and unified fashion is yet another example of how the power of e-government can be harnessed to improve accessibility of government information and services.

Looking ahead, the MSHA Technical Information Center and Library will now focus on the historic Bureau of Mines photograph collection, permitting the library to deliver its most requested archival materials online. Similarly, the Wirtz Labor Library is formulating plans to identify and digitize selected items and collections of interest to the public.
