Small Business Safety and Health Forum
Scheduled At Waubonsee Community College On March 12

AURORA, Ill. -- A special forum on safety and health in general industry for small businesses will be held at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Ill., on Tuesday, March 12.

The forum is co-sponsored by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) area office in North Aurora, Waubonsee Community College, and Illinois Onsite Consultation, Industrial Service Division, Department of Commerce & Community Affairs.

Safety and health professionals from the government and private sector will provide examples and information on how some companies have created and implemented successful programs on ergonomics as well as confined space entry. Detailed information will be provided on machine guarding, fire safety, electrical hazards and the new OSHA recordkeeping rule that went into effect on January 1, 2002.

"This conference is a great opportunity to partner with the state of Illinois and the local academic community to help small businesses prevent job injuries and protect their workers," said Michael G. Connors, OSHA regional administrator in Chicago.

The program will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Waubonsee Community College, Route 47, in Sugar Grove. The fee for the forum is $32, which includes lunch and refreshments. Advance registration is required. To register, contact Wynne Swedberg at (630) 906-4120 or visit www.wcc.cc.il.us
