Annual Safety And Health Forum
For Residential Construction
Forum scheduled for March 5 in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

CHICAGO -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Residential Construction Employers Council (RCEC) in Oak Brook will hold a special forum on safety and health in residential construction at the Poplar Creek Country Club in Hoffman Estates, Ill., on Wednesday, March 5.

"Workers in the residential construction industry are exposed to many potential hazards such as falls from roofs, falling objects, moving vehicles, and electrical shock," said Michael G. Connors, OSHA's regional administrator in Chicago. "This forum will provide employers with clear and easy-to-understand information that will minimize these risks and help them to comply with OSHA standards which protect the safety and health of workers."

OSHA representatives will review OSHA's focus for 2003, discuss the top ten safety violations in residential construction, and provide an overview of the Chicago area crane initiative. After the general session, there will be two training sessions on electrical safety and cranes and material handling. A question and answer session will follow each presentation.

The forum will be held at the Poplar Creek Country Club from 3:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The fee is $60 for Residential Construction Employers Council members and $85 for non-members, which includes handouts and refreshments. To register, contact the Residential Construction Employers Council at (630) 990-3536. Advance registration is recommended. An additional $10 fee will be charged for registration at the forum.
