Committee will convene in Washington, March 3-5 and March 29-31 WASHINGTON -- The Crane and Derrick Negotiated Rulemaking Committee will hold its next two public meetings in Washington, D.C., March. 3-5 and March 29-31. Both meetings will be held at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20210. The March 3-5 meeting will be held in conference room N-3347A, B, and C and the March 29-31 meeting will be held in conference room N-4437 B, C, and D. Each meeting will begin every day at 8:30 a.m. At both meetings, the Committee will review draft materials prepared by the Agency on issues discussed in prior meetings and address additional issues. The Committee is expected to discuss several items from the "Anticipated Key Issues for Negotiation" list at both March meetings. At the March 3-5 meeting, in addition to other key issues from the list, committee members will discuss Safety Devices and Operational Aids. During the March 29-31 meeting, the committee expects to discuss limited requirements for cranes with a rated capacity of 2,000 pounds or less as well as continuing its discussions of key issues from the list. The committee is chartered to function as a part of OSHA's rulemaking process to revise the existing standards for cranes and derricks in construction. Committee members are identifying key issues, evaluating their importance, analyzing the information necessary to resolve the issues, and working to reach a consensus on the coverage and the substance of a recommendation. If the committee reaches a consensus, the recommendation on proposed regulatory language will be submitted to the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health. Notice of the meeting is scheduled to appear in the Feb. 13 Federal Register. Written comments to the committee must be submitted to the OSHA Docket Office, Docket No. S-030, Room N-2625, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. Comments may also be submitted via fax by calling (202) 693-2350, or electronically to http://ecomments.osha.gov.
