New Rough Diamond Regulations Issued
(May 21): New U.S. regulations governing the import and export of rough diamonds were published on May 21 in the Federal Register http://www.gpoaccess.gov/fr/. The new regulations enhance U.S. Government oversight of the rough diamond trade in an effort to strengthen the international Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.  Full Text

U.S. Joins Paris Club in Forgiving Liberia’s Debt 
(Apr. 18): The United States and other Paris Club official creditors reached an accord this week with the Government of Liberia to forgive approximately $254 million in debt immediately. Full Text
