ATTORNEY GENERAL ASHCROFT TO MAKE STATEMENT

WASHINGTON D.C.-- Attorney General John Ashcroft will join FBI Director Louis J. Freeh for a press conference at 12:45 p.m. at FBI Headquarters to provide details regarding the arrest of FBI Agent Robert Philip Hanssen for espionage. Copies of statements, an affidavit and photographs will be released at that time.

Hanssen will be arraigned today at 11:00 a.m. in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
