ATTORNEY GENERAL JANET RENO TO VISIT BALTIMORE TO DISCUSS

BALTIMORE'S REENTRY PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE

Call for Full Funding of the Administration's
FY2001 Reentry Initiative


WASHINGTON, D.C. - Attorney General Janet Reno will travel to Baltimore on Monday, September 18, 2000 to participate in a roundtable discussion of Baltimore's Reentry Partnership Initiative. The Attorney General, who will deliver remarks at 9:00 a.m., will be in the Druid Heights section of Baltimore where many of the Initiative's programs are focused.

The Attorney General will announce awards to all 50 states and eligible territories under the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) for State Prisoners program. This program, which was originally authorized in Crime Act of 1994, provides substance abuse treatment to offenders.

At this event, the Attorney General will also call for full funding of the Administration's $145 million Reentry Initiative for FY2001.

The Attorney General will be joined by Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Stuart Sims, Secretary of Corrections, Congressman Elijah Cummings, and state and local law enforcement and community leaders.
