STATEMENT BY THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

"The Attorney General advised today that the Executive Order 13160, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in federally conducted education and training programs, does not preclude the holding of Boy Scout Jamborees on federal lands or general federal assistance related to the Jamborees. Executive Order 13160 prohibits discrimination in federally conducted education and training programs and does not apply to private organizations that may use federal lands for their own training programs. Boy Scout Jamborees are not federally conducted education or training programs."
