JUSTICE DEPARTMENT STATEMENT ON LINE-ITEM VETO CASE





	The Solicitor General has authorized an appeal of today's
U.S. District Court decision in City of New York v. William J.
Clinton.




	The Department intends to propose an expedited briefing
schedule to the U.S. Supreme Court.
