               ATTORNEY GENERAL RENO ADDRESSES THE
              NATIONAL CONGRESS OF AMERICAN INDIANS


     WASHINGTON, DC--Attorney General Janet Reno will be
addressing the National Congress of American Indians on Tuesday,
February 27, 1996 at 4:00 pm at the Grand Hyatt (1000 H Street),
Independence A Room.  The Attorney General will be discussing the
efforts of the Department of Justice to develop the government-to-
government relationship between the federal government and
Indian tribes.

     Herb Becker, Director of the Office of Tribal Justice at the
Department of Justice, will be available after the Attorney
General's speech to talk to the media.
