U.S. Marshals Service Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force Arrest
Vagrant Federal Parole Violator

On the evening of May 05, 2008, the Eastern District of Louisiana U.S. Marshals Service Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force (CSFTF) arrested Darryl Dwight McQuillion (AKA: Gregory Galloway) at a local homeless shelter on Camp St. New Orleans, LA. McQuillion, 58, was wanted on a federal parole violations warrant by the U.S. Marshals Service for violating the conditions of his federal parole on 1985 and 1986 convictions for armed bank robbery in San Francisco, CA. He was also wanted by the Milwaukee, WI Police Department for an April 2008 warrant charging him with bank robbery. The FBI San Francisco field office also had a November 2001 warrant for McQuillion charging him with involvement in a heroin distribution conspiracy. He has an extensive criminal history with multiple arrests and convictions for armed robbery, aggravated kidnapping, attempted murder, and bank robbery.

The Milwaukee, WI Police Department contacted the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force for assistance in locating McQuillion. The U.S. Marshals Service in Northern CA had also been looking for him since 2003 as a fugitive on the federal parole warrant. The Task Force developed information that McQuillion was homeless and claiming to be a Hurricane Katrina survivor. Through further investigation it was determined that he might be in the New Orleans metro area and living within the homeless community. CSFTF was contacted to assist in his location and apprehension. Information was developed that McQuillion was frequenting a local homeless shelter in the Central Business District of New Orleans where he was located and arrested without incident.

Investigators in Milwaukee believe that McQuillion is responsible for the April 02, 2008, robbing of a Wells Fargo Bank in the downtown area during which he passed a note and implied that he had a weapon.

Eastern District of Louisiana U.S. Marshal Michael Credo stated, “Thanks to the work of investigators in both Milwaukee and New Orleans McQuillion will not be able to commit more violent crimes in New Orleans. The U.S. Marshals Service through its regional and district task forces is dedicated to partnering with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate and arrests those that commit violence crimes and sex offenses. This is about making all communities across America safe.”

The U.S. Marshals Service EDLA sponsored CSFTF has been in existence since 1999 and is currently utilizing additional support from the U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Department of Justice to fight post Hurricane Katrina violent crime in the New Orleans metro area. CSFTF’s “Operation Debris Removal” efforts began in 2006, and the group has had much success including the arrests of several of “America’s Most Wanted” television show’s fugitives and assisting in closing out several of the New Orleans Crime Stoppers violent fugitive’s billboards. Current CSFTF members include the New Orleans Police Department, Bogalusa Police Department, the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Probation and Parole, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Services, and Social Security OIG. Other New Orleans metro area law enforcement agencies also participate on a case by case basis. The U.S. Marshals Service EDLA, with additional DOJ Bureau of Justice Assistance support, is also engaged in community activities to prevent violent crime in metro New Orleans through its Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) program.
