On December 15, 2005 the State of Tennessee issued a warrant for Winfred Scott and his son Akeem Scott after both were indicted for Rape of a Child. Earlier in 2005, Winfred Scott had arranged a meeting with investigators, never showed, and promptly fled Memphis, TN with his adult son, Akeem Scott. In January 2006, the U.S. Marshals Mid South Fugitive Task Force (MSFTF) quickly adopted this vile case and followed the Scott’s trail to Florida, California, Washington, and Colorado. In January 2008, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) added Winfred and Akeem Scott to their Top Ten Most Wanted. TBI and MSFTF investigators combined their resources to locate these fugitives and again followed leads all over the U.S. finally locating Winfred Scott visiting family in Missouri. When Winfred Scott first saw KCCCTF officers he made a run for it, tried to hide, then ran again, but Scott’s luck ran out, and he was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail where he awaits extradition to Shelby County. U.S. Marshal David G. Jolley quipped “The word should be out there, but I obviously can not state it enough, the MSFTF will not allow fugitives to run across state-lines without consequences. Like Winfred Scott, fugitives can run, but they will only go to jail tired. “ Akeem Scott remains on TBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted, but the U.S. Marshals and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are confident that like his father, Akeem Scott’s photo will soon have “apprehended”, in red letters, stamped across his face. “The arrest of Winfred Scott gives TBI and MSFTF the ability to focus more resources on Akeem Scott and we intend to utilize those resources to get this dangerous fugitive off of the streets” said Marshal Jolley.
