The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force Arrests
Man Charged With Alien Smuggling and Recovers Missing 4 Year Old Girl |
|
San
Antonio – The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) arrested 38 year old
Hayward Murphy in San Antonio Wednesday morning based on information
developed by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force (GCVOTF) in Laredo,
Texas.
Hayward Murphy has been on the run since June 22, 2007 when he failed to
show up for a Federal Court hearing that was scheduled in Laredo, Texas. His
fugitive flight ended when he was arrested by members of the LSFTF in San
Antonio at 8000 Midcrown Drive in San Antonio. Prior to his arrest,
Investigators had information that he may have with him his 4 year old
daughter that was listed with the National Center for Missing and Exploited
Children (NCMEC). Apparently Murphy had a planned visit with his daughter
last year when he absconded with her from Atlanta, Georgia. During his
flight with his daughter it is believed Murphy lived in Georgia, Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina, Florida, Tacoma, Washington, Colorado, and finally
Texas. Murphy’s daughter was placed in the care of child protective services
and will soon be re-united with her mother.
The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette
Collins said “The public was served today when a fugitive was taken off of
the streets but even more importantly, a young child was recovered and will
be given the opportunity to lead a normal life.”

- Bexar County Sheriff’s Office
- Comal County Sheriff’s Office
