Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force Downs Killeen, Texas Murder Suspect and Needs Public's  Help to Find Second New Orleans Native Suspect

On the morning of December 11, 2007, the U.S. Marshals Service Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force (CSFTF) arrested Rico Doyle , 28-years- old, in the 2300 block of St. Anthony St. New Orleans, Louisiana. Doyle was wanted on a murder warrant issued in Bell County Killeen, Texas. He has prior convictions in Louisiana for armed robbery and violation of his Louisiana parole.

The murder occurred on September 30, 2007. The victim, Tyrone Haskins, was found in front of a residence in Killeen suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. Haskins was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators from the Killeen Police Department developed Rico Doyle and Damiee Kendrick Johnson, 18-years-old, as suspects in the murder. Both are believed to have been involved in the shooting. The U.S. Marshals Service Western District of Texas was asked to assist the Killeen Police Department with locating the two fugitives. Information was developed that they may have returned to the New Orleans area and CSFTF was asked to assist in the investigation.

CSFTF is requesting assistance from the public in locating New Orleans native, Damiee Kendrick Johnson. He is an 18 year old African American male with brown eyes, 5'05", and 150 pounds. Johnson's last address was in Killeen, Texas but prior to Hurricane Katrina he resided in the 2600 block of North Rocheblave New Orleans, Louisiana. There is a reward for information leading to his arrest and all information is anonymous. Contact CSFTF at (504)589-6079.

U.S. Marshal Michael Credo stated, “I am very pleased with the task force’s continuing efforts to bring violent fugitives and sex offenders to justice. This is a continuing partnership with local, state, and federal agencies to make the community safer. As part of the partnership we need the public’s help to find Damiee JOHNSON so he may answer to these charges out of Texas.”

CSFTF has been in existence since 1999. As a response to post Hurricane Katrina violent crime across the New Orleans metro area, the district with support from the U.S. Department of Justice began “Operation Debris Removal.” Over the last year the district has arrested over 670 fugitives and cleared over 880 warrants. Many of the task force’s arrests were wanted for crimes of violence or sex offenses. Current CSFTF members include the New Orleans Police Department, Bogalusa Police Department, the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Probation and Parole, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Services and Social Security OIG.
