Criminal Investigator (Special Agent)

“As an ATF Special Agent, I work to prevent violent crime involving firearms, explosives and arson. I conduct surveillance, obtain search and arrest warrants, interview suspects and witnesses, make arrests, search for physical evidence, prepare criminal cases for trial and testify in court. At the end of the day, I go home feeling good about my work.”

At the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), we conduct criminal investigations, regulate the firearms and explosives industries and assist other law enforcement agencies. We help to prevent terrorism, reduce violent crime and protect the public in a manner that is faithful to the Constitution and the laws of the United States.
