The Executive Office for Immigration Review has several components that hire through the Attorney General's Honors Program & Summer Law Intern Program. Below is information about each component.
BOARD OF IMMIGRATION APPEALS
The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) will not be participating in either the Attorney General's Honors Program or the Summer Law Intern Program in the fall of 2003.

OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL
The Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides legal advice on a variety of matters involving the organization or its employees in the performance of their official duties. OGC manages EOIR's involvement in Federal court cases and administrative proceedings. The OGC staff coordinates the development of agency regulations, reviews proposed legislation, and processes all Freedom of Information and Privacy Act requests. OGC is the designated point of contact regarding ethics guidance for all EOIR employees, and EOIR's Pro Bono Program is a part of OGC. Although many of the matters involve immigration law and regulation, background in employment and labor law is also helpful.
OGC will not be participating in the Attorney General's Honors Program but will be hiring a Summer Law Intern.
The Summer Law Intern will assist the attorneys in the office by drafting memoranda, legal opinions and attending meetings on the many issues that come before the General Counsel. Interns are encouraged to work in each area of the General Counsel's office, which provides variety, as well as the ability to work in several areas of the law. The Office of the General Counsel is located in Falls Church.

OFFICE OF THE CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE HEARING OFFICER
In the Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer (OCAHO), Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) conduct hearings and adjudicate cases arising under the provisions of immigration law relating to the unlawful employment of aliens, document fraud, and unfair immigration-related employment practices. The Chief Administrative Hearing Officer (CAHO) conducts administrative reviews of ALJ decisions in the first two categories of cases. OCAHO is located in Falls Church, Virginia.
Law clerks in the Attorney General's Honors Program assist ALJs in researching cases, identifying salient issues of law, and preparing decisions and orders. Other law clerks assist the CAHO and the Counsel to the CAHO in reviewing proposed legislation and regulations, performing legal research, and writing analyses in support of the CAHO's administrative review of ALJ decisions.
OCAHO does not participate in the Summer Law Intern Program.

OFFICE OF THE CHIEF IMMIGRATION JUDGE
The Office of the Chief Immigration Judge (OCIJ) provides overall program direction, articulates policies and procedures, and establishes priorities for more than 220 Immigration Judges located in 52 Immigration Courts nationwide. OCIJ hires judicial law clerks each year through the Attorney General's Honors Program to conduct legal research and draft memoranda and judicial opinions for the nations Immigration Judges. Judicial law clerk positions have typically been available in the following cities: Arlington, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Newark, Oakdale, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.
OCIJ also participates in the Attorney General's Summer Law Intern (SLI) Program. SLIs are hired to work at Immigration Courts across the United States where they have the opportunity to work closely with Immigration Judges and judicial law clerks to develop their knowledge of immigration law. SLIs who receive outstanding evaluations may be eligible to receive offers for post-graduation judicial law clerk positions upon completion of their internships. SLI positions have typically been available in the following cities: Arlington, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.
