Q. How do I go about paying a bond?
A. You can pay the bond at the nearest DHS office. The DHS office in York is a sub-office and does not accept money.

Q. Can I bring my children to court with me?
A. Generally, no children under 14 years of age are allowed within the York County Prison except on certain visiting days and at certain times. Children, accompanied by an adult, are allowed in the gallery of Courtroom One which is located outside the main housing area. Children are not allowed in Courtroom Two as it lies inside the main prison. Absolutely no physical contact is allowed between visitors and detained aliens. Any questions regarding visitation should be directed to York County Prison at 717-840-7595.

Q. How many other hearing locations does the York Immigration Court have jurisdiction over?
A. York Immigration Court has jurisdiction over most Pennsylvania State and County Correctional Institutions.

Q. How are the detained juvenile cases handled?
A. The detained juveniles are housed at Berks County Youth Detention Center. The hearings are held via televideo hookup for master calendar hearings. Judges travel to Berks Juvenile Center for merits hearings.

Q. Can I conduct my hearing telephonically?
A. The York Immigration Judges discourage telephonic hearings and encourage the use of the pleading formats contained in the Immigration Court Practice Manual; however, telephonic hearings for attorneys are granted if the attorney has an EOIR-28 on file with the Court, and submits a motion for a telephonic hearing in advance of the hearing date. Telephonic hearings are generally granted for master calendar hearings only. Attorneys are expected to appear in person for merits hearings, unless otherwise notified by the Immigration Judge.

Q. How many other hearing locations does the York Immigration Court have jurisdiction over?
A. York has jurisdiction over the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institutions and the State Correctional Facility in Camp Hill, PA.
