Q. What are your hours?

A. Public office hours are 7:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The filing window closes promptly at 3:30 p.m.



Q. Do you accept faxes?

A. The Court does not accept faxes.



Q. Do you provide copy services?

A. The Court does not provide copy services. All copies needed for court or for filing documents must be prepared prior to coming to the Court.



Q. How do I request a bond hearing?

A. A bond hearing can be scheduled by calling the Court at (619) 557-6052 between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and stating that you want a bond hearing. After calling the court and getting a date and time for your bond hearing, you must call the DHS District Counsel's Office at (619) 557-5578, and inform them that you have scheduled a bond hearing. Your bond hearing will be set for the next available bond calendar which is usually the same day at 1:00pm. Bond hearings are conducted at the Detention Facility located at 448 Alta Road in the Otay Mesa area of San Diego County about one hour southeast of downtown San Diego. Bond hearings are normally conducted Monday through Thursday. If the bond docket is experiencing a high number of bond redetermination requests, the bond hearing may be set for a later date and time.



Q. Where do I pay filing fees?

A. The Court does not accept filing fees. Filing fees must be paid at the DHS Office in the Schwartz Federal Building at 880 Front Street. Any required filing fee must be paid prior to filing the document with the court. The receipt indicating payment should be attached to the front page of the document.

Q. Where are cases for detained respondents heard?

A. Respondents who are detained in DHS custody and who have been scheduled for a hearing before an immigration judge are heard in the basement of the Federal Building at 880 Front Street or at the East Mesa Immigration Court.
