Traffic Stop Data Collection Policies for State Police, 2004

Presents findings from the 2004 Survey of State Police Agencies which obtained data from State police agencies on their policies and procedures for collecting race and ethnicity data regarding motorists involved in traffic stops. The circumstances under which demographic data are collected for traffic-related contacts and violations are presented. The survey asked if the data collected were stored in an electronically accessible format. Findings are compared to those found during previous surveys conducted in 1999 and 2001. 6/05 NCJ 209156
