Bulletin Reviews Research on Girls' Delinquency

Cover: Girls Study Group Few studies have examined why girls become delinquent; and little is known about how girls respond to interventions designed with boys in mind. As announced in an OJP press release, OJJDP has released “The Girls Study Group—Charting the Way to Delinquency Prevention for Girls.” Part of OJJDP's Girls Study Group series, the bulletin provides an overview of the study group's research on female juvenile delinquency and summarizes findings presented in the remaining six bulletins in the series. Print copies may be ordered online. More icon

Web Page Features Girls' Delinquency Resources
According to the FBI, girls account for nearly a third of juvenile arrests. To guide the development and implementation of strategies to prevent girls' delinquency, OJJDP convened its Girls Study Group in 2004. OJJDP's newly launched Girls' Delinquency Web page draws on the Study Group and related resources to shed light on the nature and scope of girls' delinquency and effective strategies to address it. The page features pertinent research, publications, training and technical assistance, and programs. More icon
