FY-2003 FRPP Unfunded Easement Application Information

April 3, 2003 through May 19, 2003

The following maps display information on unfunded Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (FRPP) easement applications from April 3, 2003, through May 19, 2003. This application period is the time from when the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) published a Request for Proposals (RFP) in the Federal Register to the deadline for proposal submission.

These maps give a "snapshot" in time and do not reflect the true demand for the FRPP funds in 2003; demand far exceeded what these maps represent. Due to the limited amount of Federal funds available and the timing of the RFP, many State and local farmland protection organizations limited their request for Federal funds in 2003.

The program helps farmers and ranchers keep their land in agriculture. FRPP provides matching funds to State, Tribal, or local governments and non-governmental organizations with existing farmland protection programs to purchase conservation easements.
