FY-2002 FRPP Unfunded Application Information

The following three maps display information on the unfunded FRPP easement applications from May 30, 2002, through July 15, 2002. This application period is the time from when the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) published a Request for Proposals (RFP) in the Federal Register to the deadline for proposal submission.

These maps give a "snapshot" in time and do not reflect the true demand for the FRPP funds in 2002; demand far exceeded what these maps represent. Due to the limited amount of Federal funds available and the timing of the RFP, many State and local farmland protection organizations limited their request for Federal funds in 2002.

The program helps farmers and ranchers keep their land in agriculture. The program provides matching funds to State, Tribal, or local governments and non-governmental organizations with existing farmland protection programs to purchase conservation easements or other interests in land.
