NATIONAL PRIORITIES

PROGRAMMATIC

FISCAL YEAR 2008

Updated 04/08/2008

Agricultural Management Assistance Program

  1. Reduction of non-point source pollution, such as nutrients, sediment, pesticides, or excess salinity in impaired watersheds consistent with Total Daily Maximum Loads (TMDLs), where available, as well as the reduction of groundwater contamination.
  2. Promotion of conservation of ground and surface water resources.
  3. Reduction of emissions, such as particulate matter, nitrogen oxides (NOX), volatile organic compounds, and ozone precursors and depleters that contribute to air quality impairment violations of National Ambient Air Quality Standards.
  4. Reduction in soil erosion and sedimentation from unacceptable high levels on agricultural land.
  5. Promotion of at-risk species habitat conservation.

Conservation Technical Assistance Programs

  1. CNMP planning to assist the owners and operators of animal feeding operations to address their conservation needs, with an emphasis on helping those owners and operators who need to comply under the EPA’s Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation rule.
  2. Reductions of nonpoint source pollution, such as nutrients, sediment, pesticides, or excess salinity in impaired watersheds consistent with TMDLs where available as well as the reduction of groundwater contamination and reduction of point sources such as contamination from confined animal feeding operations;
  3. Conservation of ground and surface water resources;
  4. Reduction of emissions, such as particulate matter, nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds, and ozone precursors and depleters that contribute to air quality impairment violations of National Ambient Air Quality Standards;
  5. Reduction in soil erosion and sedimentation from unacceptable levels on agricultural land; and
  6. Promotion of at-risk species habitat conservation.

Environmental Quality Incentives Program

  1. Reductions of nonpoint source pollution, such as nutrients, sediment, pesticides, or excess salinity in impaired watersheds consistent with TMDLs where available as well as the reduction of groundwater contamination and reduction of point sources such as contamination from confined animal feeding operations;
  2. Conservation of ground and surface water resources;
  3. Reduction of emissions, such as particulate matter, nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds, and ozone precursors and depleters that contribute to air quality impairment violations of National Ambient Air Quality Standards;
  4. Reduction in soil erosion and sedimentation from unacceptable levels on agricultural land; and
  5. Promotion of at-risk species habitat conservation.

Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program

  • Promote the restoration of declining or important native wildlife habitats.
  • Protect, restore, develop or enhance wildlife habitat of at-risk species (candidate species, and State and Federally listed threatened and endangered species).
  • Reduce the impacts of invasive species on wildlife habitats.
  • Protect, restore, develop or enhance declining or important aquatic wildlife species’ habitats.
