Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites, NY

Historic Hyde Park, New York offers visitors an unforgettable journey into American history. A one hour guided tour of the Home of the Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site reveals the life and times of the 32nd President (1933 to 1945), who led the country through the Great Depression and World War II. There are 10 steps from the first floor to the second floor and 20 steps to exit the second floor to ground level outside. Both floors are wheelchair accessible and air conditioned. Youth aged 15 and under admitted free.
Visit The Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site and explore the "country place" of one of America's wealthiest families. The one hour guided tour consists of the first, second and basement floors including 62 steps from the entrance way to the second floor and back down to the basement. Outdoors are magnificent grounds, formal gardens and Hudson River views. Wheelchair accessible. Youth aged 15 and under are free.
The Home of Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (Val-Kill Cottage) can be viewed by guided tour which is 30 minutes in length and there is a 15 minute introductory film. The tour of Mrs. Roosevelt's private retreat illuminates her work as First Lady and as an ambassador to the United Nations. Home of Eleanor Roosevelt is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, November 1 to April 30, open seven days remainder of the year. Youth aged 15 and under are free.
The Franklin D. Roosevelt Museum and Library is the nation's first presidential library and the only one ever used by a president in office. Two museum floors and galleries include exhibits on Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, the Great Depression and WWII including Interactive and Video exhibits. Also featured are FDR's White House Desk, his Famous Ford, the President's Study, the Secret White House Map Room, the Eleanor Roosevelt Gallery, and more. The FDR Library and Museum is administered by the National Archives and Records Administration. Allow at least an hour for a self-guided tour. Fully wheelchair accessible and air conditioned.

NOTE: All sites closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
