The Great Outdoors Coalition has selected six Corps projects for national recognition as outstanding events to celebrate the day. The Coalition selected over 80 projects nationwide for recognition. Our events will significantly involve partners, the public, local officials, businesses and outdoor organizations. The selected projects are listed below. The events planned at these projects will host thousands of people with a focus on opportunities for American families to experience traditional and non-traditional types of outdoor activities. Other projects will also have events during the week of June 9. The Coalition is providing the projects with a broad variety of resources to help plan, advertise, and conduct the events.

Great Outdoors Day and the Corps participation through these events is a great opportunity to broaden the appreciation for and interest in Corps projects and facilities, explain their value to the nation, and introduce visitors to the Army’s rich and vibrant history and current mission.
