Promoting rule of law for business

From 1998-2007, the Good Governance Program (GGP) worked to increase market access and ensure a level playing field for U.S. companies in emerging markets by promoting:

  • Transparency through Business Ethics and
    Anti-Corruption

  • Accountability in Corporate Governance

  • Fairness in Commercial Dispute Resolution

  • Protection of Intellectual Property Rights

By early 2007, the GGP accomplished its basic mission of encouraging self-sustaining initiatives in each of its program countries. While no longer actively engaged in program activities, ITA continues to lend its expertise to its Good Governance trainees and constituents on program related issues such as business ethics, corporate governance, commercial dispute resolution, and intellectual property rights. Please contact us should you have any questions about the GGP resource tools which continue to be available at: http://www.trade.gov/goodgovernance/publications.asp.

A free online course in Business Ethics, based on the Good Governance Business Ethics Manual and jointly produced with the World Bank Institute, will be available online in December 2007 at: http://www.worldbank.org/wbi/.
