October 25, 2008 - The French newspaper "Le Monde" published an article on the "Save Your Logo" initiative. The campaign, launched by the GEF at the World Conservation Congress 2008, encourages multinational companies to protect the signature animal on which they have partially based their brand. 

Mainstreaming gender in sustainable oyster farming projects

The Fédération Régionale des Groupements de Promotion Féminine (FRGPF) launched a campaign, with GEF SGP support, to train local women in more sustainable management and harvesting techniques, in response to the widespread destruction of mangroves due to unsustainable oyster farming in the Ziguinchor region.

GEF, World Bank and Partners Award $4 Million to Innovative Agriculture, Sustainable Development Projects

WASHINGTON, September 26, 2008 — More than $4 million was awarded in seed money to 22 innovative agricultural projects today at the end of the 2008 Development Marketplace, a competitive grant program that aims to spur sustainable development. The 2008 global competition was co-sponsored by the GEF, World Bank Group, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and GTZ.Winners represented 16 countries.
